Twin Mode Operation

The UT-Twin48 features two selectable modes, each offering unique tonal characteristics and polar patterns. In 47 Mode, you get both 47 Cardioid and Omni patterns, while 48 Mode offers 48 Cardioid and Figure-8 patterns. This allows you to experiment with different sounds and find the perfect match for your recording needs.

True Cardioid and Active Cardioid

The 47 Cardioid mode uses True Cardioid technology, which decouples the rear diaphragm for a louder sound with improved sensitivity and more background and top-end detail. The 48 Cardioid mode employs Active Cardioid technology, polarizing the rear diaphragm with the same voltage as the backplate for a warmer, more intimate tone.

Custom UT K48 Capsule

The UT-Twin48 features a custom-made, historically correct single backplate/dual diaphragm capsule, skinned in a laboratory clean-room environment and 24k gold-sputtered on 6-micron Mylar. This capsule is optimized for 60V operation and tuned to match the original specifications, ensuring a smooth and resonant sound.

High-Quality Components

The UT-Twin48 is built with premium components, including a true NOS EF86 pentode vacuum tube, a custom-wound US-made high-nickel transformer, and a solid milled brass body with nickel electroplating. The external power supply is designed to offer the best possible electrical performance, reducing noise and EMI.
