The Neumann U67 — The Holy Grail of Studio Microphones

This is not a mic I bought to resell. This U67 has been in my personal collection for 28 years. It was my primary microphone of choice at my studio for the better part of three decades. I've tracked vocals, strings, acoustic guitar, brass, and drums through this mic on Grammy-nominated sessions and major label projects. I know exactly what it sounds like.

It is in excellent cosmetic condition — no dents, minor scratches in the color coating only. Included are the original power supply, 7-pin cable, paperwork and original mic box. The foam in the case is crumbling from age but the microphone itself is pristine.

Why the U67 is still the standard

Introduced in 1960, the U67 took over from the U47 and immediately became the new studio benchmark. Three selectable polar patterns. The K67 capsule. Advanced tube circuitry with low-cut and pad switches. The ability to handle 124dB SPL without distortion — revolutionary for close-miking at the time.

Its smooth top end with subtle tube shimmer is unlike any modern microphone. Engineers who have worked with a U67 don't forget it. Those who haven't spend careers trying to find something that sounds like it.

This mic has been on iconic recordings from Paul McCartney to Nirvana. Many have tried to replicate it. None have succeeded.
