The Complete Recording Curriculum — Free With Your Pure Wave Account
246 chapters across three volumes, built from forty years of commercial studio engineering and an electrical engineering degree. Not a webinar. Not a highlight reel. The full curriculum — and it costs you nothing, because we make our living selling the gear, not the education.

Studio Concepts, Gear & the Physics of Sound
The foundation everything else stands on. Why sound behaves the way it does, what your gear is actually doing to it, and the engineering principles behind every decision you make at the console.
Building a Recording Studio, Acoustics & Gear
Stop working around your room and start commanding it. Treatment that follows from physics rather than guesswork, monitoring you can trust, and gear decisions you can justify.
Drum Recording — Anatomy, Preparation & Miking
Own the complete chain, from shell material to final mix. Most people start this process halfway through. This is the whole thing — and it's how you get the drum sound you already hear in your head.

Why we give it away
Courses covering a single one of these subjects sell for four to five hundred dollars. They have to — the education is the business. Ours isn't. Pure Wave Audio sells boutique pro audio gear, and we'd rather you learned this material properly and then bought your monitors, your microphones and your treatment from people who can tell you why they're the right ones.
So the curriculum is included. No trial, no upsell, no expiring access.
Who's teaching it
Jim Pavett has been engineering in commercial studios since 1984 and designing and building them since 1994. He holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Arizona — a background almost nobody teaching recording actually has, and the reason this curriculum explains why rather than just how. He owns and operates Allusion Studios in Tucson, where every chapter of this material was filmed.
- Grammy-nominated projects

Straight answers
Is this the whole course, or a preview?
The whole thing. 246 chapters across three volumes — nothing held back, no paid tier, no upgrade. This curriculum was built in 2010 and it has been taught the same way ever since.
Most single-subject courses in this space sell for around $500. The rest of the industry has moved to subscriptions — you pay every month and own nothing at the end. We're not doing either one. It's free, and it's here whenever you want it.
What makes that possible is the store. The gear pays for the education. So if this material is useful to you, buying your next microphone or pair of monitors from us is the only thanks we're after.
Do I have to buy anything?
No. The account is free, the courses are free, and you can watch every chapter without ever placing an order. We do reserve the right to quietly hope.
Do new volumes cost extra?
No. Everything currently in the Academy is included, and anything added later comes with it.
What happens to my email address?
We use it to send you the library link, let you know when new volumes are added, and occasionally tell you about gear. You can unsubscribe and keep your course access. We don't sell or share it.
Why does creating an account matter?
It's how we know who you are so the library stays available to you, and it means checkout is already set up if you ever do buy something.
