Auralex 1" Studiofoam Wedges

Not every surface in a treated room needs the same thickness of absorption. Primary reflection points — side walls, ceiling cloud, and the wall behind the mix position — benefit from 2" or 4" panels that absorb across a wider frequency range. But once those primary points are treated, the remaining surfaces often need a lighter touch. The Auralex 1" Studiofoam Wedges are built for exactly this role — supplemental treatment that manages mid and high frequency reflections without over-deadening a room.

Where 1" Panels Belong

The most effective application for 1" Studiofoam is ceilings — particularly those that aren't parallel to the floor, such as vaulted or angled ceilings where hanging thicker panels is impractical. They're also the right choice for walls that already carry 2" or 4" treatment and need fill coverage between primary panels, or for rooms where the goal is controlled sound rather than maximum absorption.

At 1" thickness these panels perform on par with some 2" alternatives from lower-density manufacturers — Auralex's Studiofoam density is the reason. Higher density foam absorbs more energy per inch than cheap open-cell foam, which is why brand and density matter when comparing acoustic foam products.

Each panel measures 2' x 4' x 1" — a full sheet format that covers more area per panel than smaller tiles and mounts cleanly to walls and ceilings. A pack of 20 panels covers 160 square feet. Mounting adhesive is not included — Auralex recommends 2 cans of Foamtak or 5 tubes of Tubetak for a full pack installation.
