Primacoustic Recoil Stabilizer RX9-DF

Studio monitors tell you the truth about your mix — but only if they're properly decoupled from the surface they're sitting on. A monitor placed directly on a desk or shelf transfers low-frequency energy into that surface, which then acts as a resonator and adds false bass coloration to what you're hearing. The result is mix decisions based on a distorted picture of your low end.

The Primacoustic Recoil Stabilizer solves this with a two-part design: a high-density polyurethane foam base that absorbs vibration and prevents resonant energy from transferring into the desk, and a heavy laser-cut steel top plate that provides mass and counteracts the backward recoil generated by the woofer. The combination decouples the monitor from the room and stabilizes it against its own output.

The RX9-DF is designed for diagonal or down-firing orientation — the foam base is specifically cut to accommodate monitors with woofers that fire downward rather than forward. It fits the same range of mid-to-large format monitors as the RX9-HF but positions the isolation correctly for down-firing designs. The top plate is powder-coated steel with a 1/8" neoprene pad that grips the monitor base and prevents sliding.

Why the Steel Plate Matters

Most foam-only isolators address resonance transfer but do nothing about recoil. When a woofer moves forward, the cabinet moves backward. Over time this causes monitor drift and affects the stereo image. The steel counterweight keeps the monitor locked in its sweet spot position.
