Twin Circuit Topology: To achieve the utmost authenticity, the UT Twin87 offers the genuine sonic capabilities of both vintage and modern "87-style" microphones. Through extensive research and precise measurements, United managed to recreate the distinctive circuit topologies of early and late "87-style" microphones. In Vintage mode, it employs phantom power voltages to polarize its capsule, resulting in a warmer and more forgiving sound. In Modern mode, it polarizes the capsule at a higher voltage for a louder, brighter, and more articulate response.

Custom UT K87 Capsule: The UT Twin87 features United's custom-made K87-style dual diaphragm/dual backplate capsule. Precision-milled from brass and skinned with 6-micron Japanese PET film, this capsule boasts a 24k gold-sputtered membrane. In Vintage Mode, the capsule is polarized using standard phantom power voltages, while in Modern Mode, it utilizes a specially designed boost circuit to achieve a higher voltage polarization.

Custom United Transformers: United's custom-wound, US-made transformer, inspired by older, larger frame designs, has nearly four times the metal mass of typical "87-style" microphones. This transformer ensures an open, high-headroom, and clear three-dimensional sound without impeding low frequencies.

Selectable Output Filter: The UT Twin87 lets you engage or disengage the output filter at any time, in either Vintage or Modern mode, ending the debate on its impact on microphone sonics.

True-Cardioid Mod: When set to cardioid, the UT Twin87 features the "true-cardioid mod," providing a hotter, purer cardioid pattern with an improved signal-to-noise ratio.
