Our journey to create the WA-87 R2 involved meticulous attention to detail. Based on a revered 60s circuit, this microphone boasts top-tier components, including a NOS Fairchild transistor, high-bandwidth polystyrene and film capacitors from Wima, and a custom-wound Cinemag USA output transformer. The result is an incredibly accurate sonic replica of the iconic vintage microphone.
Versatility is the name of the game with the WA-87 R2. Featuring three polar patterns (cardioid, omni, and figure 8) and an 80Hz high-pass filter, it excels in recording a wide range of instruments and vocals. The switchable -10dB pad ensures distortion-free recording of even the loudest sources.
Encased in a larger, robust nickel-plated brass body with a rounded head basket, the WA-87 R2 not only looks stunning but also delivers authentic vintage warmth and a detailed top end.
